Fountain Fun
In a burst of birthday energy, Rick Calabro suggested we throw together a quick fountain contest. Crows across the company jumped in to capture the beauty of our newly restored fountain, and the results were so fun. At our impromptu watch party the people voted. Congrats to our top three winners: Paulina Blink, Milton Rodriguez, Audry Dalton, and Isaac Travis. Moments like this are the perfect reminder that we take our work seriously but not ourselves :)
Ready to Run
Happy New Year! We are coming into this new year ready to run! We are so excited to partner with the Twin City Track Club this year for a fun community event/race this summer. We are planning for Crowmunity to participate in a big way this year at Beat the Heat, and we are excited to make new friends along the way. We are in conversations with Vamos Run Club and local runner Sandy Castro about including them in Team Crowmunity.
Sandy leads Girls on the Run and, as an educator, is inspiring students at Old Town Elementary. On Saturday, she ran the Frosty 50 K. Look at that smile at the finish of 31 miles! The Frosty 50k also has a very fun Friday night 5k, where we met Brisa’s family. Her nephew Daniel ran 30 minutes for 5k and really had a great attitude.
The energy pouring from Daniela this past Thursday was electric, and it was evident that working with Vamos Run Club would be full of positivity. We hope you will start the year off with positivity and the goal of being part of the excitement at Beat the Heat in July. Whether you are a walker, jogger, or runner, the benefits of physical activity await you, and Crowmunity is cheering for you. Stay tuned for more info.
A Thrill of Hope, The Weary World Rejoices
Love Out Loud did it again! For the 18th year, they hosted Christmas for the City. At a time like now, the Christmas carol lyrics “A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoice” from O Holy Night, feel so true. We were so glad to join in the celebration of hope.
Purple Crow represented Mexico in the Christmas Around the World Village. These video reflections from the night speak to the heart and spirit of the event. Our photos below show how much fun we had building crowmunity.

This Christmas season was busy one at the nest!
The festivities started with a helpful flock filling 400 Canasta Navideñas for all of our employees! A Canasta Navideña is a gift of provision and love, shared in remembrance of Christ’s birth and God’s care for His people. The canastas were handed at out at our first Christmas Pozole Lunch which was beautifully prepared by our own Natividad Hernandez and Chef Tony!
The Annual Christmas Decorating Contest never fails to bring joy and commradery to the office! This year our crows went all out! Congratulations to the IT department for winning 1st place!
The festivities wrapped up with our first annual “Caroling Crows feat. The Treat Train” with hot chocolate (like Abuelita makes) and carols, fa la la cawwwww!
Educator Game Win!
A lot of Purple Crows were in attendance at Saturday’s Educator Celebration Game. Purple Crow was glad to contribute to the effort and congratulates the Deacs on winning their final home football game this season. Education is important to us all, and we are fortunate to be a part of a community that celebrates teachers and learners!
Fall Food Show Set Up!
It takes quite a bit of effort to set up the Food Show. Tomorrow is our Fall Food Show and today you see all the hustle and bustle of preparation. Lisa and Angelica have been at it for more than just today, setting the theme and doing decor. Tomorrow, when the attendees arrive, it will be that much more alive!
All Saints' Eve
Purple Crow knows how to Party! The imagination and creativity at today’s Halloween Party can hardly be captured in these photos. The spooky snacks were delicious, the costumes amazing, and the haunted-hole-in-one was frightful. What a joy to be with these saints and celebrate God’s goodness.
Warm Meals, Big Smiles!
A flock of crows were spotted serving hot meals to their Winston Neighbors! What a gift it is to work and serve together! Did you know that Senior Services gives volunteers golf balls to make door knocks louder so the elderly residents can hear? And we thought they were just for Friday putt putt ….

Having fun outside!
Beautiful fall weather for the week of the Feast of Tabernacles, such a wonderful week to be outside. We had fun playing in two golf tournaments and raising money for great causes. On Monday, we attended the Energize Ministries tournament, and today we participated in the 26th Annual Valarie Anne Moser Tournament. Purple Crow has supplied food for every edition, and this year Chef Tony’s burgers were again delicious. We loved Happy’s Ice Cream, too!

It is so good to be neighbors with Senior Services! Being part of Meals on Wheels is so meaningful and mutually beneficial as we work to develop crowmunity.

Updates on the Crow Mercado

Special guest: The Twin City Bicycle Collective is bringing a bike rodeo and free repairs, so bring your bicycle if it needs to be fixed! They will also have 7 bicycles for our free raffle.
