Waughtown
Our connection to Waughtown runs deep.
Purple Crow got its start in Waughtown in 1995. This historic south side neighborhood has long been an important part of our story. Today, it is known for its vibrant Hispanic community, with tienditas, taco trucks, bakeries, butcher shops, and family-owned restaurants serving some of the best food in the city.
Last Friday, our recruitment team spent the day posting flyers throughout the neighborhood, and the affection we have for Waughtown was reflected in the warm welcomes we received everywhere we went.
As we recently updated our mission and values, we were reminded how true they are in places like Waughtown:
We believe food entrepreneurs are the driving force behind the growing Hispanic economy and are committed to helping them succeed. Together, we are a network that supports independent suppliers, retailers, and restaurants, serving as an indispensable link in the food supply chain.
You know the love runs deep when your recruiter is related to a local store owner. You see it when employees stop by the neighborhood bakery to pick up their daily bread. And as a Waughtown resident myself, I was especially touched to learn that one of our longest-tenured employees lives just five blocks away from me.
Waughtown is more than a neighborhood to us. It is part of our history, part of our community, and part of our future. Our commitment to the people, families, and businesses that make this neighborhood special runs deep.
