Cultivating a Culture of Care
As we approach the end of a challenging school year for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, we pause to celebrate the educators who faithfully shine the lamp of knowledge for our children each day. We care deeply about our community—and we want to cultivate that same spirit of care in others. For us, that often begins with something simple and joyful: ¡Tacos!
Glenn High School has been illuminating the path for young people since 1950—more than 75 years of service to our community. As we prepared and served this meal, I found myself reflecting on what it means to push back the darkness of ignorance and how vital education is in shaping lives and futures.
My thoughts turned to the ancient wisdom of Solomon, whose words still light our way today: “…whoever refreshes others will be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:25b).
This raises an important question: What are other ways we can refresh our community? What would it truly look like to cultivate a culture of care?
These photos capture more than just a shared meal—they reflect the joy of caring for others. In the process of giving, we ourselves were renewed. We discovered, once again, that when we pour into others, we too are refreshed.
